We don’t want abusive leaders, Gatundu South youths declare

Youthful leadership from Gatundu South have castigated the abusive leadership style demonstrated by some MP’s saying that it is time change such leadership.

Dr. Julius Njenga Mburu who is vying for the Gatundu South MP on a Maendeleo Chap Chap ticket said that their constituency is now known as the region of abusive leadership and as a youth he wants change that.

The 29 year old Mburu while addressing residents at Mundoro market yesterday said that as a constituency they don’t want a repeat of what happened in 2014 where they were expecting to go on a by-election and a day before they were told that there will be no elections since there was only one candidate.

“The people of Gatundu must be given the chance to elect their own leaders in a democratic way, we don’t want leaders imposed on us and they end up being a letdown to us,” he explained.

He said that they want seasoned mature politics which is not abusive nor violent but is issue base and addresses the problems that affect the life of Wanjiku.

“The Education sector needs to be improved because there are low number of pupils going to the public schools because many parents prefer toiling day and night so that they can take their children to private schools,” he insisted.

“There are no enough teachers and books and the area MP should push the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to increase the number of teachers in the constituency,” said Mburu.

On party matters he said that people cannot all stay in one house where they cannot all fit… “We need to grow our wings but still be under the umbrella of our president Uhuru Kenyatta whose re-election bid we support.” He said.

“The notion that elections in Gatundu South ended on the Jubilee party nomination day should not be tolerated because there are other candidates on other parties and people should be allowed to have choices in the elections,” complained.

He added that to achieve Vision 2030 we need to increase the speed at which we are implementing the flagship projects and the youth are better placed to achieve

The youth should know that the country belongs to them and they should not destroy it through violence.

Mburu cautioned the youth to keep away from alcohol saying that as a doctor he knows that it is drug which slows down the brains capacity to think.

“I have lost two uncles due to alcohol and a friend who was engaged in a fight due to alcohol, we have seen the many negative effects of alcohol and none positive so it is high time people made wise choices and stopped their drinking habits,” he said.

He called on the youth to come out in large numbers and support one of their own since the youth are better placed to address challenges affecting the youth.
