Grief as unknown assailants murder Thika business woman

Grief has hit Thika Sub County businesspeople following tragic death of a business mogul, Joyce Wambui who was slayed by unknown assailants using weapons at her home in Maki Estate, Thika on Monday night.

Her murder comes barely ten years after her husband was gunned down by unknown muggers in Thika town. The mother of one daughter was a known businesswoman operating a wholesale cereals shop in Thika town.

Confirming the heinous incident, Beatrice Kiraguri, OCPD Gatanga revealed that the aging businesswoman was killed at around 8:30 on arrival to her home. They said that the muggers destroyed the CCTV cameras before forcing the woman from her main house to the servant quota where they perpetrated the heinous murder.

‘We have confirmed the death of Joyce Wambui who we suspect was killed using a clawbar weapon which we found at the scene of the incident. We have not been able to establish how the assailants broke in the house as not a single part of the homestead wall has been damaged. We are however suspicious that the murderers might have followed her as she entered the gate,’ revealed the OCPD adding that the deceased was hit on the head.

While revealing that nothing was stolen from the palatial house, the OCPD said they had launched investigations to killing promising to apprehend the culprits in a few days. Kiraguri said that the house help heard a commotion from the servant quota but hid in the house to secure her life.

‘The house help has told us that she heard a commotion but hid to secure her life. She is currently very shocked but she will accompany us to recors a statement on what transpired,’ said the OCPD.

Thika district business association chairman Alfred Wanyoike has rebuked the murder calling on police to move in speed to secure Thika residents.

Wanyoike said that killing of businesspersons in the sub county had become a trend further pleading with locals to embrace Nyumba Kumi initiative.

‘We rebuke the killing and ask Gatanga police to collaborate with Thika police to bring to book the murderers. The killing trend has grieved Thika businesspeople creating fear. We are also asking Thika residents to embrace Nyumba Kumi initiative,’ said Wanyoike.
